On Saturday, February 28, 2026, Round Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue formally retired one of our ambulances from frontline service and transferred it to Jonesville Rescue Squad in Lee County.
While saying goodbye to an apparatus is always bittersweet, we are proud that this unit will continue its service in another Virginia community where it is needed.
The transfer was coordinated through the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association Apparatus Donation Program. This program plays an important role in strengthening emergency services across the Commonwealth by helping departments extend the operational life of well-maintained equipment. Through partnerships like this, valuable resources remain in service rather than being retired entirely — benefiting communities statewide.
During its time with RHVFR, this ambulance responded to countless calls for service. It supported our crews during medical emergencies, accidents, and community events, and it played a meaningful role in caring for our neighbors during some of their most vulnerable moments. The dedication of our members — who operated, maintained, and cared for this unit — ensured it remained a reliable asset throughout its service life.
As our department continues to evaluate and update our fleet to meet the evolving needs of our community, we are grateful for opportunities like this that allow equipment to continue serving elsewhere.
We are excited to see how this ambulance supports the mission of Jonesville Rescue Squad and the residents of Lee County in the years ahead.
Service does not end at our station doors — it simply continues in a new place.
